Leslie and Shane made their way up to Alaska from North Carolina with just a few friends and family. They decided on Eklutna Lake for the ceremony site, which is absolutely gorgeous in the autumn. The blue sky, yellow and orange leaves, blue water, and freshly dusted snow-capped mountains in the distance. If you’re considering an autumn wedding, The peak for colors in Alaska is generally about September 15 – October 5, depending on your elevation and if it’s a wet or dry summer. After a private ceremony on the shore of the lake, they drove over to the the helicopter base for a flight out to the Knik Glacier. As always, the glacier was amazing. A mountaintop landing at around 2300ft brought them to fresh frost! Autumn definitely gets chilly in the mountains. A sunset flight brought them back to the base for the end of their evening with us. What a day! Helicopter services were provided by Tanalian Aviation – a super safe and accommodating service based in Anchorage and Palmer with Girdwood flights a possibility as well.
