Jodie & Alex came up from Texas to be wed outside near a secret waterfall in the woods – they still went there for a few photos of the two of them, but due to rain used their backup plan at the Knik River Lodge inside the yurt for the actual ceremony.  This kept their family and friends dry. The rainy weather and low visibility also meant they couldn’t fly that day, but fortunately the forecast the next day was gorgeous sunny skies, so we made last minute arrangements to reschedule the glacier session when the helicopter could fly. What a great decision! Once the clouds and rain went away, the whole valley was visible and they got some spectacular photos. The Knik River Lodge is a great base for any Alaska destination wedding taking place in that area. You can get ready there, have a dinner for two or twenty, and a helicopter is always ready for a planned or last minute photo session. Helicopter services were provided by Tanalian Aviation – a super safe and accommodating service based in Anchorage and Palmer with Girdwood flights a possibility as well.
