We were very pleased with our experience with Joe of Chugach Peaks Photography! Since our wedding was an elopement, we weren’t going to be in Alaska ahead of time to meet with vendors, which made me nervous. I filled out the form online and heard back from Joe the next day, and he, my now husband and I had a long discussion about wedding plans that evening. Since we’d never been to Alaska, Joe was able to tell us about places to go, particularly the best hiking spots, as well as other vendors to consider for the big day. Throughout the whole process Joe always made himself available to us and responded right away, which put my mind at ease that I would have nothing to worry about on the day of the wedding. The day before we flew up to Alaska, there was a big miscommunication with another vendor, and knowing how much that had my groom and me upset, Joe stepped in to help, which is not something I would have expected. His assistance helped to put our minds at ease. When we met him on the wedding day, it felt like we had already met him since he’d communicated with us so well, which is a must for any destination wedding! It was through seeing pictures of weddings Joe took that gave us the idea to get married on a glacier and drive around to other places. Even still, seeing his pictures from other weddings, I find myself saying “I wish we’d done that, too!” He is full of lots of great suggestions and the pictures turned out great! From our first phone call to texting me a week after the wedding, Joe wanted to make sure that we had the best wedding possible. Joe isn’t just a photographer. I’m 26 and from upstate New York. I wanted to write this review to let other brides know my experience. First off I wanted to say I went a different route then most. I worked and did most wedding things for about 6 years, so I wanted different. In three days I planed a wedding in the beautiful Alaska on 9/11/15. I chose chugach peaks after talking to three other photographers. I put total trust in Joes opinions and was not dissatisfied. I’ve never visited Alaska so I really had no idea what I was jumping into. Joe answered all of my questions and my concerns quick and understanding. Joe handled all of the paperwork and I didn’t have one problem. Since it was only going to be me and my now husband, pictures were really important to have to show our family. Even though joe didn’t photograph our wedding we had Shannon McGuire. She was Amazing! She captured everything and so much more. I wasn’t one bit worried about her abilities. She didn’t stop moving, and took different angles of pictures. She was professional and easy going. she took control, but wasn’t being pushy. She was all that I could hoped for in a photographer! The best part was the pictures were ready in only a couple of days! They were breath taking! I couldn’t stop showing them off! I loved every single picture she took. Joe was our contact and he was amazing making suggestions for our trip out to Alaska along with helping us locate a helicopter for our glacier vow renewal. On the day of, Joe was quick and efficient. Our wedding pictures were EPIC. I mean EPIC. We did a helicopter glacier wedding in Juneau with Joe from Chugach Peaks Photography. The glacier was amazing and people are stunned when they see our incredible pictures. Joseph was absolutely amazing! His personality makes it easy to act natural, even for “posed” pictures. But mostly, the way he blended in we never even noticed he was there (except for when he graciously offered advice during the cake cutting when he saw our cluelessness!).
