Getting married at Matanuska Glacier Retreat?

Stand on the edge and look out at 20 miles of ice and rocky mountains towering thousands of feet above you. This is an “outdoor” venue with a covered tent to keep you out of the rain, but has nice indoor bathrooms and cabins for rent on the property. Food is often catered by Sheep Mountain Lodge which always delivers a delicious meal, but you are also welcome to bring in your own caterer or let your aunties do all the cooking! The property also features a convenient helicopter pad so you can get picked up and whisked away to a glacial pool, cave, or mountaintop for some photos. As the glacier is so close, flight time is quick and costs for this are incredibly reasonable. We definitely recommend setting up a flight with Sheep Mountain Air! Your pilot Mark has more experience on the glacier than literally anyone alive, so you’ll be in good hands!
Travel Tips for Matanuska Glacier Retreat:
It’s a long way out here from Anchorage. Be sure to give detailed directions to your guests. Allow extra time for people to be late as there is often road construction in this area during the summer. Well worth the scenic drive! Be sure to setup the helicopter flight for the wedding day. And also encourage any of your friends and family staying nearby to add this to their visit! If all the cabins are booked on-site, Sheep Mountain Lodge is just down the road and also offers cabin rentals.
