Have you ever thought about flying to a glacier for your winter wedding?

Believe it or not, you can totally charter a helicopter for your winter wedding! It’s spectacular in the winter, even if it is different from our summer weddings in Alaska.

Here are some things you should know about glacier weddings in the winter:

  1. You will not find the iconic blue pools in the winter. They freeze in October and are soon covered by snow.
  2. If we can find bare ice, the helicopter can land on the glacier. Otherwise, we will land in front of a 300ft glacier wall or on a frozen glacier lake near the toe of the glacier (as long as it is safe).
  3. It is very cold but totally doable! Make sure to read our glacier guide thoroughly after booking so you are well prepared for the weather.
  4. Our favorite helicopter companies to work with in the winter are Outbound Heli Adventures (in Palmer, Alaska) and Alpine Air (in Girdwood, Alaska).

You can check out this blog post to see photos from a different winter wedding and location.

Below you’ll see the stunning winter wedding images from Thayer and Jake’s winter glacier elopement! These guys eloped from Colorado to explore the mountains of Alaska for their winter wedding. We had such a blast flying around the glaciers, playing in the snow, and cuddling up in cute outfits with hot chocolate in their matching wedding mugs.

Take a look!
